Book Design & Illustration

Paws with a Purpose is an educational book that explores the powerful bond between service dogs and their handlers. This project showcases the many ways these dogs support individuals with disabilities in everyday life—from mobility assistance to emotional support.

I led the design, layout, and visual storytelling, creating a warm and accessible look that appeals to a wide audience. Special thanks to collaborator Julia Cua for her partnership in bringing this meaningful project to life.

Process

Paws with a Purpose is an educational and advocacy-driven book that highlights the many ways service dogs assist their handlers in daily life—from physical tasks to emotional support. This project was rooted in extensive research and a deep commitment to disability awareness and inclusion.

Over the course of five months, I developed multiple drafts, conducted interviews, explored service dog training processes, and created a range of initial sketch concepts. The final product reflects a thoughtful color palette, accessible layout, and storytelling visuals designed to educate and inspire readers of all ages. The process involved over 50+ initial sketches, color studies, and typography experiments to ensure the tone matched both the educational and emotional aspects of the topic.
